Consensus in the Hegselmann–Krause Model

چکیده
This paper is concerned with the probability of consensus in a multivariate, spatially explicit version Hegselmann-Krause model for dynamics opinions. Individuals are located on vertices finite connected graph representing social network, and characterized by their opinion, set opinions $\Delta$ being general bounded convex subset dimensional normed vector space. Having confidence threshold $\tau$, two individuals said to be compatible if distance (induced norm) between does not exceed $\tau$. Each vertex $x$ updates its opinion at rate number neighbors which results replaced combination nearby opinions: $\alpha$ times plus $(1 - \alpha)$ average neighbors. The main objective derive lower bound when initially independent identically distributed values $\Delta$.

Hybrid Consensus: Efficient Consensus in the Permissionless Model
Consensus, or state machine replication is a foundational building block of distributed systems and modern cryptography. Consensus in the classical, permissioned setting has been extensively studied in the 30 years of distributed systems literature. Recent developments in Bitcoin and other decentralized cryptocurrencies popularized a new form of consensus in a “permissionless” setting, where an...
متن کاملThe Sleepy Model of Consensus
The distributed systems literature adopts two primary network models, the synchronous model where honest messages are delivered in the next round, and the partially synchronous (or asynchronous) model where honest messages are subject to unpredictable adversarial delays. In this paper, we show that more nuanced formal models exist beyond the traditional synchrony and asynchrony stratification —...

متن کاملConsensus in the Crash-Recover Model
This paper presents a deterministic algorithm that solves consensus in asynchronous distributed systems where processes may crash and recover, messages may be lost, and failure detections may be inaccurate. Our algorithm has an early delivery property: in runs where no process crashes or is suspected to have crashed, consensus is reached only after two communication steps. The paper shows that ...
